The Story of Göteborg Manufaktur
Jonas Melin and Olof Norrman met at the Textile University and, following their studies, decided to launch a denim repair shop in 2014. With just one sewing machine, they set up in a corner of a vintage shop in Majorna, Göteborg, marking the beginning of their journey.
In 2016, the concept of a denim store featuring the world’s finest denim brands started to take shape. That fall, with the addition of Erik Davis, they found the perfect storefront, and Göteborg Manufaktur officially opened its doors.
By May 2018, the opportunity arose to move to the current location on Tredje Långgatan. Göteborg Manufaktur evolved into a full-time store and passion project, situated at the edge of Haga in a beautiful late 19th-century building. The store now specializes in high-quality goods and garments, with a focus on denim.
Göteborg Manufaktur is proud to offer an extensive selection of premium Japanese denim, making it accessible locally and to a global audience. In addition to denim, the store provides a full wardrobe selection, ranging from underwear to coats and gloves. The style is best described as workwear heritage with a modern twist, where quality materials and craftsmanship take center stage, all while maintaining a timeless look.
At Göteborg Manufaktur, ethical production is paramount. Every garment is made fairly, with sustainable materials and fair wages for all involved in the process.
Denim repair services are still done in-house, and any denim products purchased in-store or online come with free repairs. Through the "Worn Not Wasted" platform, customers can buy and sell second-hand garments on commission, supporting a full circular fashion model.
